There’s a reason why a particular project is dear to the heart of Somayeh Aghnia, chief executive of Geeks, the software development company she co-founded with her husband.
“When we arrived from Iran to do a masters degree on software engineering, we had no family here who were in business,” she recalls. “When we decided three years later to start our own company we had no funding or external investment, and learning about how business works here was challenging. One of my problems was there were times when I was unsure about which English words were the ones I really wanted to say.”
